I believe that most of you encountered the situations when various entities such as restaurants, cafes, shops etc. did not provide you with the price list (menu) or provided you the price in foreign currencies, or no price was attached at a good for sale.
Did you ever react in these situations ?
Well, let me guess;
some of you did not, just did not want to waste a certain time on this matter, the others were just not aware of the rules stipulated below:
All legal entities (companies) or individual entrepreneurs (physical persons) are obliged by law to provide you with the price list (menu) for sale of any single item (good) or for rendering any kind of a service or to provide a price in the official currency of the place (country etc.) .
If lawyers express this by using a legal term, they would call it: ''Violation of discipline of prices''
What does it mean ?
It means;
-absence of price list at goods for sale
-or
absence of price list on rendered services
-or accomplished jobs or their incorrect
compilation
-or failure to specify the price of goods (works, services) in the official currency of the place (country etc.)
No surprise that once, I encountered such a situation. So, once upon a time, I entered the shop and did not see the price at the good (jacket) for sale, asked how much did it cost ?
Well, the salesperson started looking into some documents and to find the price took a while for him.
In turn, I asked; Why was the price absent at the jacket for sale ?
Well, he was explaining that their shop belonged to a famous brand, and the brand had its own requirements or lets call it ''rules'' not to attach the price at the goods.
What do you think ? Was the explanation justifiable ?
Of course, not ...NO ONE AND NO ANY FAMOUS BRAND IS ABOVE THE LAW RULES OF A COUNTRY
By telling this story, just remembered another one:
Roughly one year ago, I received a bill for the provided service/good (meal) in the restaurant. The bill clearly was stating that I was supposed to pay a 10% more for a live music, but I did not find any information stating that; the price for the live music is this or that, and if you come to our place (restaurant), you are supposed to pay a 10 % for this service.
What do you think about this ?
So. I will tell you what the law thinks of this: The services to be rendered in any place should be accompanied by a price on.
Thereby, by giving the aforementioned examples, I would like you to be aware of your rights and do not hesitate to react in these situations.
However, I am sure you are more interested in consequences of such violations; What sanctions does law impose on those persons, who are violating these rules ?
SUCH VIOLATIONS in the Republic of Azerbaijan for;
- absence of price list at goods for sale
-or absence of price list on rendered services
-or accomplished jobs or their incorrect compilation
entail imposition of penalty in amount of 800-1000 manats.
-moreover, for failure to specify the manat price of goods (works, services) selling in the
Azerbaijan Republic
entails imposition of penalty in the amount of 1100-1650 manats.
For protection of your rights, you always may call the State Service for Antimnopoly Policy and Consumer Rights Protection.
One of the reasons, why the law stipulates such rules with respect to the price regulation, is that consumers should know how much they are going to pay beforehand,maybe, as a consumer you do not have sufficient amount of money to pay for a good or service; imagine you are in the shop, and you have 10 manats in the pocket, you want to buy one kg of beef, the price at the beef is 10 manats, but you are coming to the cashbox, and upon the scan of the beef, you see the price is 15 manats, actually. It is a mistake of the entity (shop) or anyone working in there. Let's admit that it is not a good position or situation for a consumer.
Another reason, why the law stipulates such rules, is that consumers should be assured the right to choose goods and services at competitive price.
Therefore, do not hesitate to demand your rights in anywhere !
